ILA is a premier national association committed to the cause of Library movement and development. ILA has provided a wide variety of services and programmes to its members and others in the library community since its formation in 1933. The objectives of ILA are-Furtherance of the library movement in India, Promotion of the training of librarians, Improvement of the status of librarians, Promotion of research in Library Science, Co-operation with international organizations with similar objectives, and Publication of bulletins, periodicals, books etc. The association holds an annual national conference to provide a common forum to all professionals by holding the conference and meetings for discussion and upgrade in professional, technical and organisational issues. St.Agnes Centre for P.G.Studies & Research, Mangalore: St.Agnes College,established in the year 1921, is a minority institution founded by Mother Mary Aloysia, the second Superior General of the congregation of the Apostolic Carmel, is managed by the sisters. The college from its inception has imparted higher education to the women of South India. The College had the honour of being awarded a 'Five Star' grade by the NAAC, Bangalore. in1999.Following the re-accreditation process by the NAAC in 2005, the College earned an 'A' grade. It has, besides, been recognised as a 'College with Potential for Excellence' in 2006 and again in 2011 by the Post 'CPE' PHASE II grant by the U. G. C. It has been the recipient of the 'Jimmy and Roselyn Carter Foundation Partnership Award' for its path breaking work in the field of watershed management which has greatly benefitted villages in the suburbs of Mangalore.The College has accepted the status of academic autonomy for the College since 2007. Karnataka State College Librarians Association, Bangalore was established in 1979 with an objective to improve the overall development of the college libraries, to enhance the the quality service, to improve the status of the college librarians and also to strengthen the financial resources of the college libraries. During the span of three decades, significant achievements have been made for the cause of librarianship and to develop the college libraries on par excellence in Karnataka State. Several Workshops, Seminars and National level conferences were organised in different parts of the State by the present President of the association Sri.S.L.Kadadevaramatt. The Association has taken initiative to launch its own Website and regularly publishes a National professional quarterly journal entitled “Indian Journal of Library and Information Technology” to develop the culture of publication by the librarians.The Association also aims at providing common platform for college Librarians to develop standards of college Libraries.
